It came to pass on 16 August 2004 a traveller was on the long and dusty road from Skegness to Scunthorpe to break bread with his brother-in-law Simon. Whilst in that erudite company, eating and drinking of the amber waters he had a vision, and in that vision an acolyte of St Keyo appeared unto him and sayeth: Nigel, your journey is nearly over but you have one more challenge to endure. You must scale the mountains of Mortalash and beyond to a place where the waters of the Ancholme river part for the faithful to pass. And there you must advance with utmost hast to the temple of Keyo on the island of Carr, but be sure not to exceed 30 mph. Furthermore be very mindful not to cast your eyes upon any of the watering holes, or gaze upon any dens of iniquity until you reach your journeys end, for only then will you be shown your true calling. And so it was that the pilgrim took up his chattels and adorned in his finest raiments and went forth to seek enlightenment.

Five years later (what seemed like a few months.) Nigel had stayed the course and become a valued member of Keyo team, so he was well ready for an anniversary treat.

Over the past year we have rolled out a scheme to say thank you to members of staff for their loyalty to the team. To date, we have seen individuals go for spa days and have pro golf instruction, to name but a few. All of which have been enthusiastically received. So for born-again biker Nigel Fox, one of the Keyo engineering team, and an expert at reviving all things abused and mistreated, be it a small van or a forklift it had to be Cadwell Park and a track day.

It was just an unmissable opportunity to ping a man round one of the countrys most technical racetracks at speeds more suited to a bullet than a bulldog. But it wasnt long before he was showing his potential to be the new Keyo racing rider, as he slipped up the inside, outbraked people and generally scythed his way to the front of the pack. What happened when he left pit lane will be consigned to clubhouse legend.

At the post-session briefing he admitted it was more technical than even he had imagined, and that most of his memories were a bit of a blur but he pledged on his return to this historic circuit to bring his glasses. He had some constructive analysis from Vicky and some of the boys that had a ride over to watch unfortunately most is unprintable.

Nigel said he had really enjoyed his time on track and praised his instructor Dave and the agility of the Yamaha R6. He said it nearly flicked from side to side as quickly as his sphincter, and he would advise anybody else doing the same sort of thing to also wear brown corduroy underpants for the full session, preferably disposable!

Whos next?
