Keyo 'Learn to Windsurf' Day

You wake up, the sun is shinning and there's only one place to go:-

down the beach. Which is exactly what we did on one particular Saturday in July, well nearly.  Gary had arranged a windsurfing taster session at Barton sailing club on the banks of the river Humber.

The Sun was shinning, the wind was just right, everything was set for a great Keyo away day. Most of the team had accepted the challenge and taken up the offer, other than the poor souls who had to look after the shop or had a sick note from their mum!

We all started nervously after being introduced to our three instructors for the day and having our safety briefing, which highlighted a problem with a killer Arctic Tern that was fearlessly defending it's nest on the lake, as one of the team later found out (Go to gallery)

After land based training on the "stimulator" it was "let's get wet time" which involved us in a water based re-enactment of the England v Germany world cup game.  The only difference was we put some effort in!

As the day progressed we all started to find our feet with some individuals making the rest of us feel a little bit inadequate.  However we all enjoyed our time at a fantastic club, enjoying some most untypical summer weather.  Many thanks to the saint like patience of our instructors Kevin, John and Bryan, and all the club members that we carved up on the water.  And of course the Terns who didn't cause us any serious injuries!
