The Wrong Way Down
It's been a long time since Rock 'n' Roll, oh no thats something else, since team Keyo had an off road challenge. So after a casual conversation with our resident MBK maniac David 'Nozzer' Norris, I threw down the fingerless gloves and tasked him with organising an extreme evening extrravaganza, which wouldn't be too difficult for him because thats what he's up to most summer evenings.
Before long the list went up and we were looking for an agreeable date. The weather app said that it would be a nice evening on the 5th August so jobs a good 'un!
The planned route started at Barrow and headed off up country through Baysgarth Park and out of Barton to Horkstow Top, along a seemingly endless steady climb. The reward was a short, fast, free ride to the low vilages road and on into South Ferriby. The road along the Humber bank and through the old chalk quarries is probably my favourite section with fantastic views and extreme terrain. With one particular descent called 'Stone up' that we always stand and stare at and say 'Ya must be mad to come down that'. Before the words had left our mouths, over the top came Nozzer, full on, down to a bit of a ramp that he got air over landing right at our feet. He was greeted with a round of 'woos' and other choice expleitves. After that we felt pretty pathetic and quietly headed off into Barton and then back to Barrow, where we replaced the 780 calories that we had just burnt up with a 1200 calorie kebab at the local deli. Only the bony guy in the middle really deserved a good feed!!
